Reading other posts about anodes & engines etc, are there any anodes on the AD31 diesel engine, to my knowledge there are none. Plently on the outdrive and stern though.
I've got AD30's and they're basically the same engines (or close enough I think). Try looking on left side of engine under the manifold, just above the alternator. There's a square brass nut. Undo that nut and that's the pencil anode. One of mine was a real bugger to undo (actually broke an open ended spanner on it and ended up using a big pair of Stilson's on it to shift it) and when I got it out there was nothing left of the anode.
Anodes should be changed every two years even if the boat was out of water for a long period.
Dont be misled by appearances ,it may look ok but still change it
