Sorry EPIRBS again.

Anybody know any thing good or bad about the ACR RapidFix 406 EPIRB which is on offer here?

I've got an old fashioned 121.5 MHz unit & would like to upgrade.

This seems to offer a good compromise between no GPS & inbuilt GPS but at this heavily discounted price is there something I should be aware of? It still seems to be a current model on the ACR website.

Thanks.

Re: £9 cheaper...

Yikes - that seems expensive!

I see on the Sartech site there is the McMurdo Smartfind Plus G5m GPS EPIRB at £490 with battery replacement cost of £117.50 inc VAT which seems a more reasonable proposition.

Anybody got any views on this unit?

Thanks both for the input.

We have such a unit and bought it directly from a US chandler at roughly $ for £ price. Again, never used it anger but happy with the ergonomic design and simple test function. I'd be suprirsed, although I haven't checked, if you couldn't get the battery replaced in the states for roughly half what is being quoted in the UK.
