I think INEOS will need significantly different conditions to survive today. They have shown that the are the better boat in some conditions but the very variable winds we have seen most days have not been to their advantage

It is quite incredible how good the tiny country of New Zealand is - three straight wins.
You could argue that it isn't entirely surprising that a small but outdoor / sporty country could regularly be world beaters at something like Rugby. Its not a technical sport, but about human fitness, ability and sheer grit.
But surely they would start at a big disadvantage in a "sport" as hugely technical, R&D intensive and unbelievably expensive as the Americas Cup.
In spite of all our Formula 1 team R&D expertise, and some pretty talented designers and sailors - Europe and USA teams were not in the same class.. Again.

Congrats to a stunningly brilliant NZ team, and commiserations to the UK team.

I wonder if Ben will go again - he may think enough is enough - there is no saying the outcome would be any different next time.

Presumably we will hear who the challenger is in the next couple of days.

I suspect he will. He has a business to run.

Whether he skippers the boat next time is another matter.

And there's no saying it wouldn't be.

If you don't try, you achieve nothing. They've improved and achieved a lot on this cycle.

But as you say, he may have had enough.

The Challenge has been delivered.
That rather answers the question doesn't it. Looks as if Ben will remain at the helm (metaphorically at least). No reason for him not to helm actually as well but does anyone else think that INEOS were not reading the conditions quite as well as ETNZ?

Presumably the package will be much the same as the last two cups - to change it would cost a lot and risk some of the teams dropping out.

All we need now is date and a venue.
