Absolute 47 at boats.co.uk Poole

Is a 230 the largest it will take? Would be good to be able to fit a low profile rib like a Mercury Dynamic 270 that you could bolt a larger outboard onto for some fun.

Anyhow, I really like that 47 from the pics. Having the cockpit table forward is a bit odd but I could probably live with it. Small galley wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

I think the garage is 240 long, so could get away with a little more part deflated, what she came with is big enough for us.

They’re nice boats I have one. I have Davits and it saves people walking into the prop. And I could go 1/2 m longer.

Honestly davits are the worst solution for tender stowage. Anyways before going 1/2 meter longer check what is written on the davit regarding its load, most of British made have 75kg if I remember well.
Owners and dealers like to think 75 x 2 = 150kg of tender, but it does not work that way as that means the total weight of the tender. Whithall was also clever to advise this in a stainless steel print.
It is that way since if you are navigating and the boat rests to port side, that side davit will have all the weight of the tender on it. I have seen davits snaps like tooth picks for this reason and owner panic ahoy.
Nothing beats a solid stowage as a bathing platform or a garage which is even better since those on small boats take weight even further forward.
Now if you want to take a ship as a tender that is another story. For a 14 meter a 2.5 meter tender should be enough for example.

I have to disagree, bought a bigger tender (RIBEYE TL310) and it's the best improvement I've made to the boat.
The extra depth meant when the kids were toddlers they couldn't climb out, can carry a full weeks worth of gear in one trip or a full crew.
But more importantly it gives a huge sense of confidence when the weather is poor and is certainly much safer than my old 2.5 meter tender.
At only 43 kg and a small 2hp outboard it is no problem for the Davits.

If you anchor regularly or tie up to swinging moorings buying a decent sized tender should be high up your list.

i agree i hate them. But i cant think of another solution. My boat has unbeatable accommodation for a 40ft boat (3 sleeping cabins, 1 with island double, 2 en suites, big 3 sided galley, huge saloon. The payback is very poor deck storage and a pathetic excuse for a bathing platform.

Interesting drift about tenders. Very useful, I especially liked Portofino's semi-rant :)

Back on topic (slightly), I've now heard from boats.co.uk that they cannot take my Bav in P/X against eg that Absolute or the Targa 44 GT, too similar in value. Has to be about 50%.

Oh well every cloud has a silver lining, you’ll have to look for a more expensive replacement:encouragement:

Ah the deal breaker... The 40 is 40 plus the bathing platform. They are bigger than they look and have more room that the Bav/Jen equivalents.

From memory the Beneteau GT44 has two bathroom, a tender garage and a full mid-beam aft cabin!

It's a Bav, I guess you meant "Ben/Jen"...?

Looks like it. Might be a contender, how do these French boats compare with the mainstream British ones (FL,SS, P) for build quality?

We had a Beneteau yacht before our Bavaria motor boat. When we were looking one thing that stood out was the heads in the Prestige/Jeanneau weren’t as good as the Beneteau. We wanted separate. However the finish all round was better on the Prestige/Jeanneau.

However in the Bavaria we got everything we wanted and more for less. We couldn’t believe our luck and have found the quality to be better than we saw on the other two builders.
