Aberystwyth Marina

We spent a few days there last summer in a 12.5 metre MB.

Pros are:-
-very helpful and friendly marina staff,
-when we needed a welding job done they instantly found us a super guy to fix our problem,
-it's close to town centre as well as superstore and car hire,
-good access and available through most of the tide,
-facilities are good and fuelling up is easy.

Cons:-
- no real downsides other than it is a small marina are larger berths are very limited so phone before you decide to go,
-watch out for the nasty weir at the top of the marina, keep very close to the seaward end of the top of the central town pontoon, there are rocks much closer than you might think.

We had a really pleasant stay and would certainly recommend it every time.

You might want to have a search on the forum for Aberystwyth - Galps is one of the few compliments I've seen.

There's a court house being constructed where there was going to be hotel, shops etc so it's a bit chaotic at the moment, plus, I guess, it may mean that parking/boat storage might become a bit vexed.

There isn't much close to the marina other than its loo block and the office. There's a pub (not sure whether it still does food) about 100m or so away otherwise the town centre at 2-300m or so.

Apart from few bits of chandlery/gas in the marina office there are no boatyard facilities and the hard storage is insecure (No fence). So if any big stuff needs doing it's a case of Pwllheli or Milford or paying to bring people in. The Milford seems now quite popular as the haven is ca £1100 a year cheaper than Aber - IIRC Aber' is about £3090 for a 30-32 ft boat.

There might be deal to be done with Aber' as the last time I looked it seemed to only be 2/3 full - but there were some boats on the hard, but not I think that many.
