A whole new spin on bucket and chuckit?

So this is what, basically just an expensive way to **** in a bag?

All you need to buy for that is a roll of bags, not twenty quid's worth of smug decorated cardboard box as well.

Pete

Not having your obvious experience at this kind of thing I will bow to your superior knowledge, but not your sense of humour

That's almost as tetchy a response as I sometimes give. :D

But your initial comment was "Hilarious" & Pete has continued the theme.

I can't see it's value on a boat & out in the woods where it does seem to have been designed for I'd rather carry a small reuseable spade or trowel, or just scrape a hollow with a a branch or my hands & then kick the soil back over it.

Perhaps if you don't have a holding tank then putting a degradable bag in the head is an option. Individual use and put in a lidded container for disposal later. You can get those odour eliminating bags. Perhaps a business opportunity to make them a suitable shape for the bowl whilst being easy to seal afterwards.

So basically, nappy bags?

On the hard? An old supermarket carrier bag in the bowl would do the jobbie a treat & then tie it off & drop it in a doggie poo bin with all the others.

But mostly I would walk to the nearby public loo or use the one in the clubhouse to which I have a key.

Speaking of keys, if there is a public loo near you that is locked at night, there will usually be a disabled toilet there with access via a Radar key. These keys can be bought quite reasonably off e-bay.

The trouble with supermarket bags, is the holes, in case small children put them over their head. I couldn't in all conscience, use said bags for this purpose if children use them as headwear!

At the risk of turning a humorous thread serious ...

Whenever racing on a boat without a head (I.e. always) I use biodegradable bags and a very strong bucket. Don't use a cardboard frame, though.

I bought one for SWMBO direct from Radar http://www.radar-shop.org.uk/Detail.aspx?id=0
She finds it useful to be able to use the disabled toilets on railway stations etc. Esp when carting a fair bit of luggage about with her

ermmm......... why do you think there are separate loos for the disabled? I sympathise with your luggage laden wife, but my bro in law is in a wheelchair and gets fed up with waiting for able bodied women, and it's always women, using the disabled loos. I think they like them because they can get half a dozen in at once.

Fair point. I was only suggesting it may be useful at night when normal public loos get locked to keep the "undesirables" at bay.

There are seldom many Disabled people around then - in fact there are seldom any people around at all. During normal hours I simply use the Gents like anyone else.

I thought disabled toilets were for ease of access, not so that disabled people didn't have to queue. What happens if there is already a disabled person using it?

Well, they must have been up all night thinking up the name for that one. It's so antipodean, I love it.

In all seriousness, and at the risk of causing some thread drift I have been intrigued for a while by the whole idea of composting WC's for marine use. On paper it would seem to be an ideal solution. Any of you lot have any experience of such installations ?
