Ah. Good point, Graham. I'm afraid I don't know what the UK's ratio is, but Oz is 2:1 and Switzerland is 1:1, and there are a lot in between.

Maybe a Brit can confirm that the Union Flag's correct ratio is 2:1?

I was referring to the broad white versus the narrow white but I was wrong. It is 3:1.

Ah. As to that, one thing I've never cottoned on to about the 'St Andrew's Cross' part of the Union flag is that in fact it isn't a cross at all -- just four diagonal red stripes, any one part not lining up with the supposed other half of itself. Odd....
