Firstly I can only say thanks to all who posted & sent best wishes. It really does help, thank you.
Yes its only a Boat & no one was hurt or injured, but so much time, effort, & love goes into boat ownership that judging by your posts, most of you appreciate the feeling of helplessness when something like this happens.

Update: she has a small hole above the water line on her starboard side which has been temporarily patched,
She does have some slight compression damage to the starboard side deck, the toerail is nacked, most of the starboard side gel coat around the toerail is badly damaged, the mast & rigging is all down & the inside is a total wreck…………….but…. with a bit of luck-
I have laid the anchors back out in the Estuary & hopefully she will come off the wall on tonight’s tide, if she does & floats then may be she is salvageable. Fingers crossed

I will keep you posted

Once again thanks guys.

All the very best from all here...

...saw your post last night and didn't know what to say.

Our family yacht went walkabout in a gale back in the 1980s and got blown ashore but she barely touched anything on the way through the moorings and she dried upright on bilge keels (albeit at dead high springs which gave some security worries for the next couple of weeks).

To know what is happening and not be able to do anything about it must be infinitely worse.

Best of luck with it all.

Had a similar experience a couple of years ago when she plucked her mooring out of the mud and spent the duration of the storm lying alonside another boat. It sounds like similar damage to yours without the deck. On the positive side I did a minor refit, painted the deck and varnished the woodwork whilst the boat yard set about the repairs. She now looks better than I have ever seen her. I sincerely hope the same will apply to yours

Fingers crossed

Peter,

I read your posting this morning and I must say I feel for you.

I went into work, did the essentials and raced down to Starcross to check that my own boat was OK. I've only just got back and it's no consolation to you, but thankfully my boat survived last night without a problem. Several people told me what it was like and it really sounded horrific (8 foot waves at Starcross!!! Water flooding across the car park at SFCC)). I saw several boats that had suffered and was told that 6 boats went down. When I left the wind was picking up again but I don't think that it will be as bad again.

I'm glad to hear that there is at least some hope and my fingers are crossed for you.

I'll be down there again on Sunday and, if you want a hand in tidying things up, or anything else, I'll be more than happy to do whatever I can to help. Just send me a PM.

My thoughts are with you too as you hopefully float her off tonight. I have been waiting with baited breath to hear the outcome - when I went to bed last night I feared from your earlier posts that she was completely lost and so I am heartened that there is hope for salavaging your pride and joy after all.

It was a nice gesture from TK to offer some local help and I hope something comes of it - only sorry I can't contribute much from this side of the world!

Regards
Rob

Best of luck - I know how attached I am to our boat and am sure you feel the same or more - it is so much more than the sum of its parts

I hope she is back to be even better than she was before

Hope she looks better when she has dried out. Good luck.
