Halfway through my herculean insulation project I decided to switch to cork tiles for the pantry and ceiling. At 4 mm they're a bit thinner than I would've liked but they came in easy to use 1x1 ft tiles. Self adhesive even, so no worries with the naff Evo Stik not going off properly and taking forever to dry.
Or so I thought. Most are now sagging badly or have fell off, great.
I could use staples but since I plan to paint them it would look rather nasty and might even lead to condensation getting under the tiles. So obviously a better glue is needed. Some seem to prefer hot glue but I'm a bit slow for that. Always hardens before I'm finished. We're talking about 160 square feet here so I'm not going to cough up the money for WEST epoxy, that's way out of my price range. PVA although this is an interior job, wouldn't be suitable either I would've thought. Any ideas?

Naff Evostik perhaps !

One of the modern high strenth adhesives such as "No More nails", "Sticks like Sh*t ", " Serious Stuff ".

But make sure the substrate is sound, clean, grease free and dry.

The problem now might be the old adhesive on the tile backs.

Dont forget the thinner the tiles the poorer the insulation value!

Dont forget what happened in Pwllheli, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iecQKkrsmjI someone using spray evostik type glue!

Well The Evo Stik I use is the solvent free water based "Impact Multi Purpose Contact Adhesive". Works well enough with PE mats but neither quick nor very pleasant to work with. Cost adds up too!
The cork tiles are okay for the hull but not so for overhead application.

EDIT: hmm it does say on the tin "ideal for bonding [...] cork" so seems I should stick with it.

Evo Stik

The solvent-free evo-stik is completely useless in my experience - even doing simple jobs around the house. The proper stuff (red can) is as effective as ever (although dangerous to breathe the fumes).

I used Tusk Bond from Toomer and Hayter for headlining and sidelining cork tiles for insulation before sticking on carpet, also for formica where evo stick let me down. It's not the cheapest but found it to be v good. Also the hallucinations from the fumes are quite pleasant.
