A sign of the times..

Not being able to ā€œpourā€ over a chart indeed breaks one of the links with our forefathers and those early chart makers like Mercator.I have a roll of charts covering the Baltic to the Morrocan coast.
I think we have to accept that we are the forefathers.....and we are au fait with this electronic world

Yes ,outright beginners with a grasp of electronics can become Magellans at the installation of a Navionics do da…..šŸ˜‚
If you showed Captain Cook your GPS Chartplotter..... would he say, gee that’s neat but I prefer my paper charts..? Why do we šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤”

I expect he would e looking for somewhere to plug it in……the compass is on par with the navionics andwe Dont object I guess it’s progress and one must not be a Luddite about it although a compass and a paper chartā€works ā€œ when all else fails.A few years ago a French man turned up here in Vigo having navigated using only his wrist watch which I must admit was mind bogglingšŸ˜‚

Technology is mind blowing....we just recently rented a car....if you connected your iPhone to it, it would direct you anywhere. We were never sure exactly how to connect, and sometimes we got a woman directing us in kilometers...and sometimes a man doing it in miles....the man knew a lot more

Our google lady is from the BronxĀ”

It’s much better than the old days…..if you were up north and stopped a stranger to ask directions…they would say, ā€˜that’s where I’m going’….and jump in your car😳
Iwas told it was a old man who said ā€œyour starting from the wrong place!ā€

There is an app fro iPad called Angel Nav which can do that easily for you. Pic attached... (I believe they are working on and Android version).
We are indeed working on an Android version (was working on it this morning). šŸ˜€
