A Sailing magazine just forwomen?

I have just received a magazine aimed at female dentists, which I scanned briefly before binning it. It is much the same as dentistry for men, but with articles on hand care and handcreams, and a bit on burnout. Two subjects more effectively covered in proper women's mags and psychotherapy journals.
But what about a sailing magazine just for women? Handcare would be useful, but last time this was mentioned, the men took it over. Hair care, washing conditioning at sea would be useful. But again, some men, it is rumoured, wash while off shore too. Or, aids to sail handling, like electric winches. Or easy ways to raise anchors. But again, men are needing such things as yachts get bigger and bigger.
Is there any subject that would only interest women. I know, male yachties! Yet again, perhaps not, we would be in competition with the pink community. Can the forum help?

YM recently had an issue focussing on family sailing. a certain well known female poster made sarcastic comments here about switching to Women's Own.

Can't think of anyfink. I've never really been one for girls-only this and girl-only that. Girls-only nights out especially make me cringe, I couldn't really tell you why. Oh, maybe it's the endless talk of clothes, self-help books and movie star gossip. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif Which, ultimately, is all you find in women's mags. I've mostly had best mates who are male - again, no idea why, and yes, I've also plenty of female friends - and with sailing, as you've pointed out, fellas are also after preserving their backs from the ravages of handling bleedin' heavy anchors etc. Hair care? If I want to prettify myself I stay at home - sailing is for getting a wee bit rufty tufty and windblown, that's half the fun for me!

Having wibbled on about it now though, if something similar to what you're talking about appeared on the shelves I'd certainly take a peek. You never know, I might be pleasantly surprised...

No - rufty tufty is that rather becoming windswept hair and flushed face look- IMO far better than face rendering and hair sculpting. I'm not surprised some women are like they are given the crap written in the "womens" magazines.

Rumpty tumpty could imply many other things.

Re: Title Suggestion

Isn't 'broad reaching' another term for sexual harrassment?
And I thought 'avast behind' meant you had a sitting-down job

No...you have got that wrong Becky...it is the term used for the little lady busy "feeding the fish" to leeward!!!

Re: What a great idea...

It would need to be stereo typical. Soft furnishings advice for the bluewater cruiser, which washing up liquid to have in your grab bag. Monty Don on how to secure your growbags in the tradewinds. A little something on PMT in the Southern Ocean, is there a Glass Ceiling on Your Yottie Career, and a quiz on Have You Found the Right Grinder.

Jimi could be your first centrefold. (careful with that staple gun).

Think how easy you could sell this, apart from the Jimi bit, to the advertisers. A nice tight marketing group. Oh! Matron.

How did you know? I have always used the outside lane as my special perogative. Trouble is some other (men) think it is theirs also.
At least some useful suggestions.
But I will have to wash half the solent out of my hair tonight; at least I got out on the water today while a lot of you were sneaking looks at the forum while at work!
Truth be told, like has been said already, anything feminine enough to be in a womans mag would probably bore me to tears. I like to make an effort now and again, and I love wearing nice clothes and makeup, but it is a relaxation to just put on nice warm saily clothes and face the wind and the waves. I adore being at sea on Cornish Maid.

Some possible ones that haven't reached conclusions on our boat: how to keep long hair securely out of the face, lifejackets that don't strangle one across the bust, HRT as a cure for late onset seasickness ... I could go on!

Having read recent posts on preparing breakfasts, making scones and nail care is not scuttlebutt half way there????????????

The only subject I can think of is a DIY catheter for women to be used on board in bad weather - maybe Cutters 'pisspot' doctor friend who should have gone to Cherbourg can think of a solution but I bags the copyright. Does any other girlie get fed up of having to nearly strip naked through copious layers to have a pee, in a confined space and then having to redress takes ages at the same time being bounced/knocked about?
The men have it easy
