I acknowledge the fact that many members of our sub-forum enjoy sailing about eating and drinking and wining and a dining.
So, Saturday a leisurely sail to Harwich from the River Alde, a 5 hour trip. Lucky tie up on the inner to a local overnighter.
But here is the point. Googled a couple of past ideas from you guys and arrived at a slightly obscure destination.
Check out the Laila Grill which is in the back of the Captain Fryatt pub near the International Port place (I thought it sounded like a chip shop but he is prob an historic character, typical Harwich man).
The Laila Grill could be in any part of swish London but its behind a boozer in a suburb of Harwich.
So we were told to walk to the railway for 28 minutes past train (pint in Alma on way) get in the last carriage and 5 mins later you are off before paying for the ride (discuss at will), think its only a pound anyway?.
But I suggest for you connoisseurs of fine Indian (street food) you check this on internet where you can print off a menu. ( I am in no way connected to this establishment or Harwich at all)
And just to round this off, the facilities are clean and useful at Halfpenny pier and so far so good with fellow berthers.
Then we banged back into 25 mph wind against a strong and lumpy tide to Aldeburgh, rain and whistling winds but as I predicted back on the mooring for a calm and sunny afternoon.
So on Monday, back to work, a gentle warm and sunny day. Might have been my last away this year, hope not. Give me inspiration.
