Hi Everybody, just thought I would say hello instead of lurking on the outside,
Hope to start posting and getting your views on different boating subgets from now on. From what I have have seen so far theres a lot of experienced people on here.
The names Dave and up to recently had a Trader 575 with which I travelled all over in. I now have got as a stop gap a Birchwood 450. Been around boats for some thirty odd years and still learning.
Look forward to chatting with you

Dave

Hi, welcome to the mad house. Isn't "Ile De Spirit" the boat used in one of their adverts?

Yes Ile D esprit was used in one their adds and she appeared quite frequently on their website.

Home port for the winter is Chichester, name of the Birchwood is Nina Grace.

Oh, do pop over and say hello. I am on "Toscana" the Phantom 37 with Green covers right next to the Fuel Pontoon.

Welcome to the forum ! ...
Think I met you a couple of week-ends back ... If you are moored on "I" ...(I think).. We were the "forigners" in the Italian cruiser next to you...(helping to get rid of some of the water from the top).. and probably woke you up early on the Saturday morning when we left heading east and "up" the way...

Will be pleased to say hello next time I am in the marina. As I am only a winter berth holder I am not sure where the boat is in the marina at the moment, I believe that she is on pontoon A near the fuel pontoon.

Alf
Yes that was me, did your trip go all right, and no we never heard you leave.

Paul
The Trader was a great live aboard long distance cruiser. I was very involved in her build so I avoided many of the teething troubles others have with new boats.
Except for some early problems with the Engines (cats) she was trouble free.

Not a fast boat by any means she would do 20 knots at a horrific fuel consumption.
But at 10 knots I could do Guernsey to Gibralter non stop and arrive with 70 to 80 gallons in reserve. At those speeds she tended to roll quite a bit in anything over a 5.
Many owners are now fitting stabilisers but I dont think they actually justify that expense. It was charateristic of the boat you got used to.
I have just sold her and was very sorry to see her go.

Hi there Dave,

Tried to keep the sound level down by pointing the bow in the way & reversed out to avoid turning the exhausts towards your boat, as I knew you were onboard....

Got this one.....

Hi Dave,

We are in Chichester also. I have noticed your Birchwood and have commented on how good it looks.

Welcome to the mad house.

Kevin.
