I have a Navik on both my boats - a Morgan Giles 30 and an Albin Vega 27, and it works perfectly with both of them, even with strong weather helm on the Morgan Giles, and has been used on both boats for considerable voyages.
I don't like leaving the water paddle down when motoring or at anchor, or when coming alongside. However, deploying and recovering the paddle over the stern of both boats is difficult due to clutter on the stern deck and the fact that the boat needs to be completely stopped.
What do other people do? Do you leave the water paddle down for extended periods of time even when you are not sailing, and have you encountered any issues doing this?
