A Question about \'Ose

Water 'Ose, not garden 'Oes.
Sorted out all the junk on board yesterday, and I decided that I will buy an 'ose in view of the ongoing disappearance of 'oses from marinas.
Because of lack of space I propose to buy one of those flat fabric jobbies that roll up in a cassette.
Before I set off on a tour of local supermarket sheds can anyone suggest a make/model to buy, or to avoid?

Re: A Question about \'Ose

OK, so it's a bit of far concern, but the hose should be graded as suitable for "potable water" as ordinary plastic (layflat) hose has plasticisers which can be released into the water if the external temperature is high (e.g. the hose has been left in the sun for a while.

A quick search for "layflat "potable water"" gives

EDIT

here's another website with smaller diameter hose.

Re: A Question about \'Ose

I bought one from Aldi when they were on offer - £9.99 on a reel with all the attachments. On a thread on this subject recently several peeps complained that they split easily but I think that they were using the spray/jet attachment with a trigger and therefore subjecting it to loads of pressure. If all you are doing is filling the tank then that is not an issue. They are a bit fiddly to get back on the cassette type reel - laying out the hose along the pontoon so it doesn't kink but lies flat as you wind in seems to do it.

I suggest a high quality item from a chandler and don't spend less than £39.99 /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Blimey if they cost that much I might have to persuade the mag to let me write a review, to pay for it! Fat chance of that, actually.

Re: A Question about \'Ose

Following the recommendation on here I bought an Aldi one but it burst when using it with the spray gun. As the spray gun was supplied with it, I reckoned the 'ose was "not fit for purpose" and took it back.

Since then I've used Hozelock yellow round hose and attachments and they give no trouble but obviously need more space [and cost more]. However having the hose in two lengths with a coupler means there's more chance of finding odd corners to stow them in, also it saves unrolling miles of hose when the tap is close by. I suppose a Hozelock flat hose cassette would be very good but hey, there's a recession on. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: A Question about \'Ose

Sounds sensible.

I bought an Aldi one, and the first time I used it the end came off. Managed to botch it back together at the time, though whether it will hold next time who knows.

Much better to buy once than twice in situations like this!
