A proper boat 🙂

A lovely thing to look at. But times have changed. In those days only moneyed gentlemen could afford even a 30 footer. GRP has both democratised boat ownership, and allowed the radical design changes that enable modern craft to be so much faster, more efficient and more spacious. However, history should be kept alive and sailing, it’s fantastic to see people with the dedication and the money doing just that. Reminds me, I must check how dry my XOD is getting…

In my youth a family friend rented a house and yard in Surrey Docks on order to build an Eventide and later a Waterwitch.
There was so much driftwood and dunnage in the docks that he never had to buy any timber.
Allegedly, if you made friends with the stevedores you could specify the type of timber that fell overboard.

Enjoyed the video, but put off by "we don't point as high as a barge". A guy who is happy with his boat though, is always good to see.
