Hi everybody, I have just joined this forum after I got hand of Mby this summer in south of France and found this magazine Superb!
I own a Fairline 41 Targa wich is a very good boat but unfortunately this boat carries a couple of Cat 3208s 435bhp built in 1992 so they are probably the ones that are subjected to break downs! (I didn't know it BEFORE buying it)In fact at the end of august I've had Cilinder n.4 Cranked!! Is there Anybody out there that had the same trouble and can give me any advice/information??
Thank you
Massimo

BY the way if any of you could be interested Italian prices for 2nd hand are far lower than Brits.

Welcome to the forum! I don't know about your engines apart from the fact I had heard about mega head problems, but I know you will get the info here, have you tried doing a search of the old threads?

Thanks, I have read some sort of match volvo vs Cat but I could not find anything regarding my problem. I wrote to Kim Hollamby wich seems to be the right one!

Thanks, but I looked in boatdiesel but could not find the same sort of problem. I found there the expectation of life of a Cat engine well looked-after is about 10000 hours; with my 300 hours is a jolly good luck!!!!
How did u find Sardinia?

I think you've been unlucky, Massimo. These Cat 3208 engines are usually fairly bomb proof but another forum member, pauljs_eng, may have further information

At first I thought you were being rude and calling me names but now I realise you were exhibiting some small knowledge of the immense resource available on the internet.

My mum and dad wouldnt let me hitch hike in Middlesex, let alone the Galaxy.....but then I was brought up in the age of TWcubed rather than Not The Nine O'Clock News..........If only.....no, no use being nostalgic...I should never have let Errol Flynn buy me that ice cream...........
