A long cruise - Spain - France - Corsica - loads of photos

I was chasing JtB for a report and lo, there it is!

Excellent write up, lots of work to do it I know, but it is much appreciated Mike.

Lovely photos and I'm sure a great time was had, no jealousy involved at all.

Well, not much. Well OK, a bit.

a really enjoyable post and agree the maps add a different dimension to the whole post, adding Bonifacio to my list of must visits looks awesome

Thanks again.

Great report & fantastic memories. Thanks for taking the time to write them up - it was lovely to meet you all.

I spent a long time gazing at those photos. They bring back so many memories, never to be repeated. I did the Gargalu passage three or four times - no problem. That anchorage after Gargalu looks like Girolata - lovely sheltered spot, if a bit shallow at the end (and a nice restaurant on the hillside). Shame you couldn't go a bit further round Corsica to Porto Vecchio and down the north-east coast of Sardinia. Some more really beautiful places there.

Thanks for posting that. A lot of work, but it gave me a lot of pleasure.

John

Yes the anchorage after (south of) gargalu was indeed the beautiful girolata. Still not served by roads, so a special place. Still has restaurant on the hillside.

We didn't have time to head up to Porto Vecch, but I have done that bit before a few times and visited beautiful places like rondinara beaches and the other nearby bays. I made a post in September 2009 on that cruise. Ditto NE sardinia

I did gargalu in a Sq58 but wouldn't want to do it in a boat much bigger. The waterway is wide enough at the surface but if you recall there are just submerged rocks both sides. I declined to do it in the sq78 with fin stabilisers on this trip with hurricane but Nick definitely made the right calk to do it in the pred52

Beautiful place. Corsica is the real jewel of the Med imho, and quite unknown in general as a destination, among Brit holidaymakers I reckon

Wonderful write-up, fantastic photos and stunning scenery. All the ingredients for that perfect trip..............apart from one thing in my case....a boat would help:D

Thans for sharing.

Wow - you boys really are living the dream.

Amazing pic in Monaco how your (big) boats look kind of small in relation to everything else!

Great stuff
Jon.

Some of JW’s crew needed to have a “water sports fix” so we anchored up and out came the inflatable.
They must have needed it real bad, judging from the above pic: the RIB was ready to be launched well in advance...! :D

Great report & pics, thanks for taking the time to share it all with us.

Blimey! what a excellent report - stunning......

I thought I had just had a fab two long Bank holidays rolling into a long 16 nights holiday on our boat cruising (in the Solent) - but crickey what you chaps did takes the biscuit :-)

Its just wonderful that you all enjoy your boats as you are . Top Top stuff.

Brilliant - I enjoyed the trip!

Fantastic posts Mike. I know it takes a lot of time to put posts like this together, so thanks v much for taking the trouble.:)

Now, if only JTB would post some of his ( or possibly his SWMBO's ;)) reportedly excellent pics...........
