Great pictures, in my 40 years of boating I have yet to see Dolphins, seen a few basking sharks, but never a bloody dolphin or a Porpoise!

A long time ago, when I windsurfed, I was sailing off Largs in Scotland, and wasa joined by a group (pod?) of seals. It was fantastic to be so close to these creatures. Have only met Dolphins in foreign parts to date, but hope to fix that soon.

A few years ago while about 20metres down I had a pod of around 20 dolphins whizz pass me going in the other direction, I thought we were going to collide, that was in the red sea, great experience :D

But never seen dolphins or basking sharks on the south coast :(

Mind you I did see a seal in Newtown creek a few years ago.

Anyway, great pictures, thanks for posting.

Brilliant. Makes me want to use the boat in the uk more.

We saw dolphins in the same place a few years ago

There were a pair of seals in Newtown the weekend before last, they were amazing came right up to the boat. At the same time there was an Osprey overhead!

I have seen dolphins / porpoises twice now from current boat and both times it was nice weather and as flat as a witches tit , i suppose it just makes them easier to see .

Great pics Andy. Is there a foolproof way of distinguishing dolphins from porpoises?
In my experience dolphins have a tougher flesh and taste saltier than porpoises. If you marinate either beast for 24 hours before cooking there's probably little to distinguish between them.

Cheers, Brian.
