A Bridge that takes no prisoners - Hallberg Rassy - owner not on board - demasted

I wonder if you could lower the boat by getting your wife to sit in the bosuns chair and swinging her out?

Our first yacht was a fin keel Foxcub. One time we ran aground and I asked Mrs K to hold onto the shrouds and lean out to make the boat heel and break free from the bottom. it worked, but it was a frosty sail after that.

At least, assuming you could manage a good beat, you wouldn't need the bags :D

Should anyone plan on trying it: http://easycalculation.com/trigonometry/triangle-angles.php
(Handy site, btw.)

26 degrees of heel reduces the air-draught by a mere 10 per cent.

You might need some trig to see if passing under a bridge is possible, but you don't need it for the actual passage. Measure the height of the bag when fully loaded, make a mark on the halyard to give you the correct height of bag + halyard + mast fittings. If the bag is touching the water you will make it. If not, you are in trouble.
