Hi All,
I'm wondering whether my 'man flu' has fuddled what remains of my brains. A large French supermarket was selling new Genyx 1300w inverter generators for 198 euro. I bought one and hope I can use this to power the microwave, halogen hob etc (not all at once) when my boat is away from marina power.
The instruction manual is all in French, but the generator has English words such as On/Off on it and says it is a 1500 model. The electrical connector on the front is a standard French domestic output but it comes with a French plug which can be wired.
I am curious as to whether I could use this for my boat and how easy it would be? I'm thinking it could be as simple as buying another external marina power short connector and wiring the external end of this to the generator output and connect the other end to the boat cable. Is it this easy? How would I ensure that I get the polarity right from out of the generator or does this not matter? The generator also has a earth attachment on the front, on a boat what would one connect this to?
We will be in France for a few more days so if it is a Lemon I can return it for a full refund.
Happy New Year to all!
