75mm diameter Stainless tube for a bowsprit?

You posted .... you got it ....

I think a length of mooring line hung from the cross trees should suffice.

How naive to think that you would get a simple answer to a simple question .... Absurd.

have got some schedule 40 2" s/s pipe that i bought to make a mount for a wind genny, it is still in the bubble wrap in the garage, it is industrial finish and would need polishing, cost me £45, make me an offer.
dont forget am in north wales and it is about 2.5 metres long.

I got a 6m length of 38mm (3mm wall) from Alexanders(Stirling) Ltd. for £68. I needed 3m for a windmill pole for the boat. Any steel stockholder will have it or be able to get it for the next day. It will probably be a 6m pole tho.

Thanks for the offcuts, however the thrust of my request ,as in the header, is for 75mm diameter.
The thing is, my bow roller fitting lends itself handsomely to a 75mm tube. I could actually aspire to a 100mm tube, but the lump of nylon I have liberated from maintenance for the slide bearing is also 100mm, so the tolerances may be considered tight, especially when considering a loose running fit from the old BS4500.

Mogadon, Nurse!!!!!!

By the way, I am an avid admirer of the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 35 Bow fitting. It is sturdy and multil purpose, very shiny, and has some lovely holes allowing a fitment to a wide range of design ideas. IMHO its equal to the better thought of Scandinavian affairs.

<<Or i'll trade it buying you a pint over the weekend some time, and you can tell me how horribly wrong any thinking thoughts that I thunked about bowsprits are.... >>>

Neil, you well know that all ale purchase is equally distributed between fellows of equal hubris such as you and I . Without doubt we would send the entire bar into a somnambulistic nay cataleptic trance if we discussed this in detail. Therefore, I recommend the wearing of giant drinking breasts, and a Cardinal Chunder hat, and attach extra buoyancy fenders to the dinghy to assist stability errors getting back to the boat. Saturday night it is then, if I survive this thread.

FULLCIRCLE

I think you are making a fundamental design mistake..........

If you want the bowsprit to not break off in the first gust of wind then you need to.............use imperial measurements, and to "add a bit" for luck.

By my calculations therefore you need 30 foot of 12 inch diameter pipe, with a 2 inch wall thickness.

That should be just about ok. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ooh yes, I think I've got a bit left over from when I replumbed the heads.

bombard commando asembly help

I've got a bombard commando, which has been taken to bits whilst the floor was resealed. I'm really struggling to get the floor back in. Does anyone have any tips. I've tried deflated, inflated, basically everything.

I'd be grateful for any tips.

Re: bombard commando asembly help

What diameter is the bowsprit on your Bombard?

Only kidding. Welcome to the forums.

You will need to post this on a new separate post to get an answer.
To do this, click post from the menu at the top of the page....
