I have a first edition. Its a marvellous book written by a man who was not quite what most of his readers think. Lawrence was a brilliant scholar at Oxford, and pre WW1 he worked as an archaeologist in the middle east, where he was actually a spy looking at Ottoman defences and working with an Oxford Don who was really an unofficial spymaster. He actually wrote Seven Pillars twice, as he lost the first manuscript by leaving it behind at a railway station.
