61.7kts in the Solent

Gusting 75mph at Portland. I hope my cradle holds up too although I did manage to get the boat absolutely level the other day.

Ooo. I see blue sky behind the horizontal leaves.

I thought I heard on Radio 4 that there was a gust of 95mph somewhere on the Isle of Wight - I thought they said Yarmouth but couldn't be sure. ANyone else hear it?

Apparently the Needles lighthouse reported a gust of 100mph.

AND some people put to sea in these conditions woooooooooooooo

This is Pulpit Rock (at Portland Bill) taken just after 11:30 am. I think the tide hadn't really started ebbing at that time, but there were still some good waves battering the rocks.

Not a good day for the inshore passage methinks!

Great picture! Got anymore? By the way, "Not a good day for the inshore passage methinks!" Not a good day for any passage!

Here's one of the crane just to the North East of the Bill. At 8:30am, when we got there, it wasn't as rough as I'd hoped, but the wind did increase from then on. This was taken at about 9:30am, when I think the tide was close to the top of the flood.

It was a shame that by the time the tide was ebbing, and the wind really howling, some major squalls came through bringing torrential rain.
