...and it all works. needs some 'attention' but looks ok

For more pictures see Boatshed Here: http://www.boatshed.com/san_lorenzo_57-boat-150700.html

I still like the look of them and those detroits sound loud and aggressive when started!

Someone could be boating in style as long as they put aside £25k for essential work...started out at £110k, down to £60k and now £38k or best offer. Shows these big old boats just cannot find homes! This is a local boat as well which I have admired for a while.

carefully avoids mentioning a few things and has no pics of e/r and hull from inside.
IF it's ply, it probably needs what MiToS needs,
if it's triple planked then it's probably a bit better.
If it's GRP, then you only have to worry for the superstructure.

OK, checked boatshed (cannot view pics) it's PLY. For anyone interested, my rebuilt thread is going to give them an idea of what they'll be after :D

I'm sure someone is going to come and correct me soon ;)

PS. yes, looks nice, but under the skin???

That will be quite lazy ...V12/71's last a couple of lifetimes, so engines should be OK ..

Worry would be hull and superstructure ... if VAS's experience is typical, this could be a MITOS on Steroids ... Essential will be a full structural survey by someone knowing this construction methodology inside out !!

Problem with these (and most wooden boats) is not salt water ingress (salt preserves) .... it is rain water that cause the damage...

The drastic price reduction must surely mean there are some serious issues with this boat, hull, engines?

Maybe ! ?
or perhaps someone who is realistic about prices of such a boat,
there are zillions of similar around,
you have to get "attention" , jump out the crowd, if you want to get her sold,
this is one way,
I've seen similar on offer for more then 6 years, price reduced from 500K to 100K, and still not sold

could be a nice floating holidayhome in the med,
for someone who likes to be "bussy" en enjoy's this type of work,

as has been said above, its a nice looking model, much nicer then some younger aged plastic tubs
and from the pics the condition doesn't look too bad,
at least a "useable" condition

Would be nice with a dockside 308 gtb
Interesting suggestion, also the vintage would be correct.
Otoh, I'd rather reach a vessel like this with a more understated Alfetta GTV 6 (to remain in the same vintage), but that's me of course.
Anyhow, if Ferrari is your thing, why not the GTS instead of the GTB, as a summer car? :)
Back to the point, very nice boats in many respects, could be a great liveaboard choice for someone.

Wood laminate according to the Boatshed ad. The drastic price reduction must surely mean there are some serious issues with this boat, hull, engines?

No obvious expensive problems or a Failed Survey. Just usual maintenance AFAIK. Engine room needs a tidy up and paint but everything works I think...just a realist in the current market who is paying €8k a year mooring plus basic maintenance and Insurance. Wants rid as has moved away...

You should buy it Nautorius. Beautiful machine, and no VAT for you. Divemaster confirms the engines are unbashed and have 30 more years in them, and Vas will send George to do any hull woodwork. It's a beautiful machine and could be bargain of the century. Someone from this forum really should buy her

I know, and I just spent more than that on a new kitchen. Great price and seriously tempted.....I am finding out more at present.
what JFM said,

just bring whats_his_name semi-retired Italian surveyor that Bart and others I guess have used to check the hull out, and if she's clean, go ahead!
Then, I'd personally bring George there to work on any bits that need doing :D

keep us posted!
