Hello
I need help ?im trying to find out how to determine the year of my outboard engine
It's a 55 hp Johnson seahorse

I'm tried search the net I think I have worked out the first letters but the P at the end doesn't seem to relate to any charts for the year

I'm looking for the year so I can hopefully get a service manual as I'm a new boat owner

Please see photo

Thanks for any help Tony

It does look like the number/letter is area significant. And as Canada, also a prefix "c" and number are you sure Belgium and not import.
However call one of the parts suppliers and ask them to confirm.
My guess is '79

Thanks again

Not 100% Belgium only referencing a chart online but the last two letters don't relate to the chart
I will give the parts department a try

Thanks a lot appreciate the help

Btw welcome to the forum.
Just a wild guess 'P' could be prop, ie.long prop just a figure of terminology...long prop or standard prop. We say long shaft or standard ( short?) Shaft.
Anyways good luck
