Teddi Bear

I've been on one of those FBCs.
Slightly smaller, 50' or so, but amazing living spaces.
Undoubtedly the best liveaboard boat I've ever seen in that size range.
I wouldn't cruise anything but dead calm waters, though.

Re: Teddi Bear

Well, that didn't take long!

Not surprised it was you though, MM! There are less than 20 FBC's in existence, but nothing much gets past this forum.

Here's the link to the article... some arrows at the top of the page to go on to the next several pages (all with pics):

Yep, incredible amount of living space. They also chose NOT to fit stabilisers, so poor weather will only be exacerbated.

Still can't believe a VW Golf diesel, 14' tender and R22 are all on board.

[/ QUOTE ]That's not so surprising, actually. These boats are very beamy and stable to rolling.
There's an interesting debate on that in PM forum, if you're interested.
According to some peeps, they're much safer than you might expect just looking at them, even in really bad weather.
...but having seen one in flesh, and being a simple mind, I'd rather not be out in bad weather with them, anyway. Besides, let's face it: they're really awful to look at.

Re: Teddi Bear

Yep, designer says that the 20' (!) beam makes her stable despite the height.

As an aside, what happened to your avatar... was it a Northern Marine before?

Re: Teddi Bear

Geez, well spot. One of my favourites, in grp league.
I scanned a few "good old days" pics, and made an avatar out of one of them... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
