I realise I'm going against the flow here. I found Monaco a bit soulless and antisceptic. OK the Cafe de Paris is worth a stop to do a bit of people watching, there are good views from the Palace but I though the old town was straight out of Disneyworld. Harbour is worth a stroll to see how the other half ie tcm lives. Best bit by far is the new train station because its a civil engineering marvel but then I'm an anorak
Train ride into Monaco is spectacular and costs nothing at least on Sundays. This is because automatic ticket machine does'nt like British credit cards and nobody seems to check whether you've got a ticket
Villefranche and Beaulieu are worth a visit and so is Antibes. Agree with jfm though. Its all best seen from the sea

I like it.

was there a couple of weeks ago.

Always have a drink in Casino Square, great people watching in the PM. See how many bodyguards you can spot. Walk through the Casino gardens. Take the lift down to the harbour end of the famous GP tunnel. Stroll the harbour boat watching do a bit of drooling and remembering which part of the GP circuit your on. At Eau Rouge stay with the harbour and you'll find the Riva factory with lashings of them tied up in gleaming rows. Stars and Bars which is a yank restaurant right on the quay. It's a sportsbar inside with a heavy GP leaning as the whole quay is a major hub for TV and the Teams during the race weekend. Carry on past and you'll find the Monaco Yacht Club and sailing school. Climb up onto the new harbour wall and you can follow a coastal path around below the Principality. On the way back take the high road up the start finish straight past the Auto Club and if your fit walk up the hill to Casino Sq. Handily there's a heart hospital on the left. Stand with your back to the Casino and at about 10 o'clock you'll see the start of the flash shopping.

If you've got a car I agree with the others about VsM and Antibe. Menton is a nice mix of medievel and modern with an Italian feel. Behind Menton is a village in the sky called St.Agnes. You can eat your lunch at a very nice bar with a view to die for. Not reccomended if it's cloudy though.
