4 Hours Labour for changing 2 alternator belts??

Oi, bringinging outdrives into the equation is a kick below the belt while I'm still tender there. 10 hours labour to remove props, drain oil, seperate one lower gearbox, reattach lower gearbox, fill with oil and put props back on. Granted it's a two man job, but it's 6 bolts, 4 screws, 4 nuts and a packet of prozac

The man who fixed it has got to pay for his only recently purchased 40ft mega pocket rocker cruiser somehow and have you any idea what a crate of Premier Cru and caviar costs these days ?

At first read it sounds excessive, but it's probably about right depending on travel time to the boat, then there is access to the boat, access to the engines, doing the job, checking their work etc. it's not quite the same as driving a car into a workshop and pulling the bonnet release.

If you want to save money, learning to do these things yourself is the way to go. You'll be surprised though how long some seemingly simple jobs take on a boat in a tight engine room!
