32ft with shafts

I agree twin engines cost more to keep which was why we looked at the Aquador 32.
On the other hand with sterndrives engine bay access can be very good.

Hi all

Happy bank holiday! We have a 28ft cabin cruiser on a single stern and want something larger and more comfortable. I was originally looking at a single engined 32ft, but after some big bills / reliability issues I’m not so keen on sterns I’m now considering twin shafts - other boaters near us love them, but as owners I’m looking for other unbiased views!!

Currently on the list are Jeanneau Prestige 32 or Jeanneau antares 980. I like the Sealine f36/37 but it’s a bit bigger than I planned, it’s just a shame the f33/34 are on sterns as they are great. I was looking at c330’s but given the current climate I now want to spend less.

Any comments or other suggestions are appreciated!!

Thanks!
We had a Beneteau 980. Not much comfort. Condensation dripping on you in the morning and not enough room to sit 4 around the table. It was easy to handle although you get tossed around like a cork on rough water. The sides of the hull flex alarmingly when tied up in rough weather as the transom is not fixed.

What Beneteau model and year?

I had a 2003 Jeanneau prestige 32 with KAD 300s. Easy to Manoeuvre with a bow thruster .Great boat and never really caused me any trouble.

@markizok there are some nice options (at least on paper) at the moment:

2009 Nimbus 320 Coupe, Chichester West Sussex - boats.com
2005 Nimbus 320 Coupe, Wallasea Island Essex - boats.com
2002 Nimbus 320 Coupe, Burnham-on-Crouch Essex - boats.com
I like this one but it's quoting as a sterndrive? 2005 Nimbus 320 Coupe, Hamble Hampshire - boats.com

I'm currently researching my own purchase and wish that I was ready to 'push the button' on this 38' Nimbus: 2008 Nimbus 380 Coupé, Plymouth, Devon United Kingdom - boats.com

Have to say that's not my experience, we have found our 9.80 to be an excellent boat, and a lot crammed into a 32ft Hull.

I owned a Prestige 32 with KAD 43s. Brilliant boat and fabulous internal layout. A proper flybridge too (for entertaining and driving). The only pain (common with twin set up on shafts, of course), is access to one engine for basic checks like oil level. Huge lazarette is the opposite side of the coin.

We have an Ocqueteau 975, in some ways similar to Beneteau models.

Some cleverly placed access hatches helps a lot for basic service checks, oil filter change, fuel cocks etc.
Admittedly filters placed low would still be an issue, but ours re fitted high(ish) on the engines, angled upwards for easy access from above
