2nd annual virtual cruise to Cherbourg

Re: Who was it for you?

My virtual 55 ft twin-engined Hunter Sonata turbo trimaran made it in 7!( not sure if its inches, feet, minutes, fathoms, Ohms, calories, Hours or dwarves)
but at least the beer is cold!

Hurricane surfing anyone?

Now we know you are aground

Can I suggest that you open the rear of M5 where you'll find the 40 foot tender. Get in that and await further instructions. Standing by on 16.

Re: Now we know you are aground

Before I do that I'm going to try pressing a few buttons cos my depth says 4 Metres .. anybody know if thats real depth or iunder the keel?

Re: Now we know you are aground

Have you a lead line which can be loaded with tallow? You'll then know the depth and by smelling the stuff stuck on the tallow you'll know precisely where you are.

Re: Now we know you are aground

's OK just hailed a passing Trdewind 35 and attached my main halyard to his stern cleat and cleared the obstruction due to angle of heel. Operational again, although a bit of mess is the dining room and cocktail lounge. Swimming pool now empty though

Re: Now we know you are aground

Glad to hear it, after all of the excitement of this year's virtual cruise off to do some real work to pay for next year's cruise.

Re: Results

may I seek redress on my handicap - its just that my virual crew of Haille Berry and Dionne Warwick haven't done much sailing so its taking me a bit to get them both sorted out - just don't see this being a fast passage

Race report
Conditions were challenging, with a recall causing the fleet to have to return to the starting line for a second time. Some competitors reported 40 metre standing waves outside Cherbourg once the virtual tsunami had gone through and as you'd expect were particularly challenging for the smaller craft. Those that mastered the conditions once again made good times some touching warp speeds in the troughs. The AWBs once again took a pasting with the largest, M5, getting itself into trouble before the start. The engine problems suffered by one competitor indicate that some participants are still not taking this event seriously enough and need to look to their toolkits before they begin. And on another point of concern, the large number of blousy tarts who brought fashion models on their crew should be aware that next year the event will be a drug free zone.

As you are probably aware virtual sailnig is gripping the nation and we are in the vanguard. Watch the virtual queen's virtual annual award ceremony this year and you might be surprised.

Until next year's event this is your virtual commodore signing out.

Those damned girls were a hellof a distraction! Where do I collect my wooden spoon?

If there is another cruise tomorrow will it be confined to sailing boats or can I bring along my new home built hugely powerful triple engined motor boat? I don't mind racing cross channel it as virtual fuel is quite cheap.

Re: Race report

Mr Virtual Commodore Sir,

I am forced to respond to the calumnous suggestion that I did not take this event seriously.

I can assure you that I have been working round the virtual clock for the past two weeks trying to get my boat tuned for the event.

The problem with the virtual fuel pump was not evident until late yesterday evening when I was concluding virtual sea trials in the southern ocean.

I have been maintaining myself in the peak of virtual fitness for the event with a strict virtual high protein / low carb diet. Furthermore I have not touched any virtual alcohol for over a month and I have been abstaining from virtual matrimonial relations ( /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif) for longer than I care to remember.

Why even as we speak I am starting my virtual preparation for next years event
and have just ordered the sand, cement and aggregate necessary to commence construction of a virtual 25 ton ferro-cement sloop.

Once she's completed I shall post virtual photo's of her bow and beams on this forum - you'll all get the opportunity to see her virtual stern as you try and catch her during next years event!

Huh!

Re: Race report

Mr Raven,

Thanks for your note and we are pleased to hear of the abstinance, lack of booze and the diet. We would however like to bring your attention to virtual rule 24(b) part iii and I quote

"Tossers with dodgy fuel pumps will be berated by the commodore in the race report"

So, you will it was nothing personal merely a virtual rule that was passed at a virtual AGM some years ago.

I hope that you will build your concrete coracle, it is a long time since the committee had a good laugh.

Yours, etc

Re: Race report

Damnit!

Its going from bad to worse. I thought it read "rebated by the Commodore."

Does that mean I won't get my entrance fee back? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Re: Race report

Sorry Gentlemen - yellow flags all round as you are all in quarentine.

As you will see from BBC news link HERE there has been an outbreak of virtual plague.
