Rival Spirit - disqualifed for sailing
Corrected times
Claymore 10 hours 15 mins
Steve 10 hours 20 minutes
jimi - 3 days 3 hours 10 minutes. It's that lifting keel that does you for the handicap.
2 extra guns.... that'll be a virtual full recall..... try harder please... black flag is flying so, virtual disqualification for any virtual infringers....
Personally, I think the race officer was a bit late firing the starting gun....
Anyway it looks like one of the virtual oil seals is knackered and it's going to be a longer job than I thought.
The whole virtual thing's going from bad to virtually worse since I bought the boat a month ago. The virtual keel bolts were rotten, all the standing rigging needed replacing and there's osmosis in the virtual hull.
I've got no come-back against the virtual marine surveyor because he's done a bunk!
Anyway, I realise it is now 9 minutes past 10 - how was the trip?
After the recall was there a re-start? It's just that me and the girls nipped in to St Helier for a quick drink, so should we come back or just go on to Cherbourg?
Looks as if there was some kind of misunderstanding at the virtual start. Still no probs everyone is back on the board. Shall we try for a re-start at 11?
1. I'll be firing the gun
2. There will be a 10 minute and fine minute and start gun.
3. All participants to report arrival time at Cherbourg
4. Best of luck
PS Can someone please sort out raven's engine engine for him?
Certanly, but the most direct route is to head due south, make a course correction mid-channel and aim to be uptide of Cherbourg entrance. You could go via St Vaast but with your draft I'd be surprised if you could reach the harbour.
You could join in the virtual RTW which Dame Ellen has organised, you'll have to be a bit sharpish tho' to join the start at 10:35. All due back by 10:45 so that'll give you time to re-vitall for the trip.
