Following last year's very successful virtual crusie to Cherbourg, I've organised this years cruise, again at very short notice because as you know if its virtual you don't all of this boring slogging to to windward and the like. I've planned the first leg in some detail, I'd like a few suggestions as to the subsequent legs. Note that all of my timings are BST and have taken account of tides and current wind conditions.

I was thinking of the following itinerary to keep us going until about, er 1005:

1000 today, leave the board
1001 arrive Cherbourg
1002 jimi and tcm get the first virtual round in
1003 prize giving for fastest passage
1004 assemble in marina for return home
1005 back to webboard

Would appreciate it if you could delay the start until noon. Ive got a problem with the virtual fuel pump and there's virtual diesel pi**ing everywhere!

The virtual diesel fitter told me he has a replacement part but cant get to me until 11 am with about an hours work to do thereafter.

Obviously I apologise for virtually any inconvenience this may cause to you guys!

As you'd expect it will be about a W4 there and back with lots of sun and no rain visibility forecast to be excellent, sea state set to be slight to smooth so tcm's passage in gas guzzler should be ok as well.

I've just heard that they've got the road up just outside Dover and all heavy traffic is being diverted round the top of Scotland so the shipping channels should be a doddle as well.

that's because it's virtually free for the next 4 days in commeration of a visit from a Scotsman who is virtually famous.

I too am going to be delayed with engine problems but Barrus sent someone round earlier to check on the parts I need and despite the fact that the engine is within the warantee period have agreed to deliver them within 2 hours FOC.
Will use the time to finalise my passage plan - struggling as to whether the trip will take 2h 06m or 2h 07m; I realise from advice given here that it may be important to any subsequent court case that I get it right.

I wouldn't expect anything less than a vitual 50 footer to be capable of the voyage and as we all know they all come with, erm, their own fashion accessories. So please join. Starting gun in 15 mins.

I'd love to take part, having been an enthusiastic participant last year. However I am doing the real thing this year, with Stugeron Steve, and am hoping that his bl**dy Genie doesn't appear and b*gger things up. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Btw, what happened to last year's thread? I've tried to find it a couple of times and failed.
