Jeaneau Prestige 36?

Also nice and indeed meet the island bed solution. Twin engines vs the Nimbus' single, but shouldn't be reason to reject.
Haven't seen it without Fly, but he'd have to consider it.
If memory serves they've been bashed for engine access, but close to all boats in this range have a drawback in this regard.

Will include it (y)

Walk-in engine rooms belongs to somewhat bigger boats.

Thanks,- yes the 31 Elite looks nice, the white hulled version in particular. Close on the bedding desired.
I actually have the original brochure...
Not a lot of them up for sale though and their 38 and 43 are too big. I pointed out the 31 earlier and will remind the guy again.

Viewed a 38 Excellent myself, before buying the current boat (2011) and was very tempted. Ambitions and resources didn't really meet at the time though ;)

You need one of these...............
ACM Excellence 38.
Quick and quiet underway. Economical and spacious.

The radar mast is hinged to enable use under bridges on the Thames and other non tidal rivers.

Exactly the same length as my Princess 35 but with much better use of interior space.
Engines you can actually see  and get at as opposed the appalling dismantle half the saloon merely to glimpse a rocker cover on most all of the competition.

Speed. loaded with junk/fuel and against the tide.

I thought this looked a really clean one owner boat for £150k when it popped up in my feed the other day. Whilst you say flybridge not necessary don’t dismiss them. Even if you don’t go up top it provides an extended saloon by opening the patio doors and using the cockpit. In winter the cockpit covers provide protection or in the summer have it open.

Proper walk around bed in the forward master as well as a very usable pair of twin berths or double using the in-fill panel.

We still remember our P42 with fond memories.

Gorgeous and well put together, really nice and with a pair of sensible simple engines.

Thank you all - you are brilliant.

The maximum length is pretty definitive as the berth is between piles - as is the width (the marina office says 3.85m but you never know until you try as things can change - especially if someone has crashed into the piles at any time).

The mention of the Prestige 36 made the 32 (10.4 long, 3.64 wide) pop up, so in reality it is 34' x 12' and 6500 kg dry.
It does indeed have an island bed, but the access to the engine leaves a lot to be desired - if only for the usual maintenance. I suppose you could install access hatches where the manufacturer didn't.

Lovely as the P38 and F42 are, there is little chance of squeezing them into the berth.

Identical to the one I viewed. The build quality was very good too, even then looking close :)

@henryf .... like unicorns, a bit rare.

The Princess 38 from 1999 up to 2002 was a bit rare for one simple reason.
Princess just placed it a couple of thousands less in price to the 40, which had two heads and more space everywhere.
So everyone would choose the Princess 40 which was one of there best sellers at the time.
So I think Princess produced very little off these. I heard once just over twenty.
On the contrary the 40 sold over 100 units, in its longer 1997 to 2002 production run, replaced by the even more selling 42.

We did look at the Jeanneau 36 , the interior was less spacious than the ancient Princess 35 and not impressed for just how long the Prestige kept rocking after the crew and I clambered aboard.

The shower door on the Prestige had all the rigidity of an Airfix kit and .................................as for engine access, some joke surely ?

We looked at a Corvette 32, it had an off set island bed so would fit the bill.
The older Corvette 32 had the offset island bed. The later 320 set the bed to one side, restricting access so someone has a crawl over berth.

Not mentioned here is the Grand Banks 36 Sedan or Tri cabin.

Fred drift - i think it may have been a bit more than 20, if so, then I think I know of every one? I heard it was nearer 100.
Buy yes, certainly the 40 was better suited to families. 38 is great for a couple.

I heard 20 to 30. The 40 sold near 200 units if I remember well, and was a big hit, outselling the Fairline competition by not little.
tbh I preferred the lines of the 38 to the 40. Also I think in some areas she felt a bit better, like for example the aft deck felt more spacious.
