2015 Stone Point Weekend

Planning on Sat 29th August.... Bank holiday weekend for Pirates so we can do Clacton Airshow on the way up!... Mentioned it before, so who's in?
Treasure hunt on the beach, BBQ and bonfire, hopefully some music. Would be nice to have a good turnout this year.

We are doing Thursday until Monday at Clacton/Stone Point.

Our family need a camp sitre in Walton or toward Clacton, anywhere we can pitch 2 tents? (not Stone Point, no facilities, no road access)

Let's get this started:

Lazy Kipper: 2 adults, 2 mini pirates and a scurvy dog
Full Circle - 8-10 adults, 7-9 kids/teens

Lauren 2 adults, 2 mini pirates, may increase!
Hageso 2 ancient pirates.

As many already know, Hageso lives in the Yacht Haven (The Pond) at the Walton & Frinton Yacht Club and if we can be of any help please post or PM.

Weekdays the 'cat flap' to the pond is open from 8am to 5pm about 1.5 hrs before high tide (when they get the level), until just after high tide. At weekends access can be requested on Channel 80.

Foundry Reach, from the Spit Bouy to the Pond is well buoyed and fully navigable when the Pond is open. Foundry Reach drys at low water.

Bit dated but more details and pictures are available at http://marinas.com/view/marina/6637_Bedwell_&_Company_Boatyard_Walton_on_the_Naze_GB_United_Kingdom,

Hope this helps.

Interest seems to have stalled:(

I have now checked Foundry Reach, The Twizzle, The Walton Channel and Stone Point. All easy access and much the same as last year.

A local view is if you can get over the sill at Titchmarsh you will clear Stone Point. Some say there is more water at Stone Point than at the Pye End FWM but I have yet to confirm this.

I don't think there's anything much to worry about unless you have a monster keel. I departed Titchmarsh recently at about HW-5 and my heart never skipped a beat all the way to Pye End. Draught 1.2m+beer. If it was difficult our website would tell you. Just note the extra no.4a buoy and go the correct side of it especially if the tide is lowish.

AJ and Esmé made posters for Pirate weekend and distributed round Burnham Yacht Harbour.... Am hoping we may get some new additions that way!

I would love to come but it is the grandson's 5th birthday and my father-in-laws 85th birthday so there is a large family gathering on that day.
Hope you have a good time.
