How can you tell if petrol has already had 2-stroke oil added? The oil we use(d) has no real colour and at 100:1 I'm not sure it would show even if it did. Any solutions much appreciated.

Let some evaporate. If its got oil in it it will leave an oily film

Letting some evaporate on some paper might be a clever idea as any oil will leave a translucent mark on the paper, but compare it with fresh petrol with no oil added.

I assume this is for an outboard. Add oil if in the slightest doubt (most outboards would be better off with 50:1 anyway). But if you really dont want to "risk" running on 50:1 then mix it in with some fresh correctly mixed a bit at a time.

Alternatively use it for the lawnmoer or the neighbours lawn mower.

Better still put it in the petrol tank of my car!

Assume it hasn't and put some more in. At 1/100 it won't mess up the engine if you have 2 lots of oil in.

Agreed, if its for a 2 stroke outboard then no harm with double the oil, may just smoke a bit.

I only ever add the oil just before adding it to my outboard tank. after problems with Yamaha 5 and 100:1, the outboard specialist says he always uses 50:1 in them
