Have used Ocean Performer for the last five years at the top of the Hamble river and find it the best to date. Tried both International and Blakes over the years but none as effective as OP. No hard fouling, a light cover of slime which washes off under way. Have for the last 2/3 years only applied 1 coat with extra on leading edges which stands up for the season without too much build up. Now, can anyone come up with a product which works on stern gear and props.

International Micron Optima is also a 2 component antifouling. It's water based too so suitable for use on substrates that could be damaged by solvents.

I used Optima for a number of years when racing my One Design. Was very effective, but pricey. The ability to wash out brushes etc in water was nice, but you had to check the weather forecast when applying, another class member had just finshed applying his and a sudden heavy rain squall washed most of it off one side of the hull. He was seriously P***ed off.

Tied Seajet Pellerclean (sp?) this year - seems to have worked well. But I'm going to try next year again without recoating. If it does 2 years I'll be a fan.

We used International Optima for years and found it excellent in Poole, but then had a bad batch of white which during the season blistered off the underlying coat of black Optima, by the time we had removed it (had to have the hull blast cleaned, then a coat of Primocon) it we had no time to use Optima because of weather constraints, so reverted to Micron. We then realised that it was way cheaper to use Micron (41 footer, quite a lot of paint) and pay a diver to clean the hull mid season, in fact we could afford two diver cleans and still be a few quid better off.

One club friend use the Blakes 2 pack which is solvent based, so less weather constraints, and this was also excellent in Poole. Poole is a heavy slime area.
