So, on a forum, how do you determine the possibility that the same person has registered multiple times using different identities?

Not going to point the finger but there seems to be a pattern on some threads.

Why does it matter to you?

Whilst not pointing the finger, why not report those you think are multiples to the mods... then they can investigate your concerns and do something about it.

As long as the posts are informative, amusing, interesting, controversial or entertaining, who cares? It's the internet, not letters to a parish magazine; it's ephemeral.

Clearly it does bother you enough to comment about it. Obviously, it is easy to have multiple identities on an on line forum if that floats ones boat.

Using real names would stop it, if it is indeed a thing, but more pertinently, people may think before typing first if what they say can be attributed.

Do you think it's likely that those pre-disposed to having multiple identities would give their real names? And how would you check that it was their real name - send someone out from YBW Towers to look at their passport?
