Does anbody have any nice sailing shots of this magnificent recently rebuilt 95ft vessel from this, her first season since her virtual destruction by fire in 2004? She has cruised extensively UK and Brittany already including a cargo run of wine from the Gironde to London, and must have been seen by many by now.

Any nice shots would be for inclusion on her website which I have been tasked to revamp.

A free day of sailing next season will gratefully be offered to any one who can help.

Irene is currently lying in Floating Harbour Bristol. www.ireness.com

Photo's information and news aplenty of Irene of Bridgewater

I have sailed on board the Irene for the first leg of the Tall Ships Race 2011. I have many pictures that I am currently releasing on my blog. I am also working on my site that will be much more comprehensive. Please check out the account and photos of my time on board.

Any questions then please ask.

Shrug.

Depending on who I'm sailing with, that conversation could just as well have taken place on my boat. Subsequently bowdlerising it in reported speech seems unnecessary to me. It is of course your prerogative to stop reading words that upset you, but to return here and complain about them seems unnecessary as well. He's not your seven-year-old grandson to be ticked off for using rude words.

Swearing and the sea

Apologies for not being able to reply to this thread sooner. I've been at sea.

Galago. I am sorry that the swearing offended you so much, however I do understand that sensitivities vary from person to person. In my writing I am trying to curb my use of bad language as I realise it reduces the amount of people that it becomes accessible to.

In the blog entries of my capsize on 'Enza' I feel that swearing was necessary. Perhaps not so much in Good Morning Irene...
PLEASE do not become disinterested in the Irene as it is up to some amazing things and will continue to be so for some years yet. The boat is a great ambassador for sailing endeavours both past and present.
I was a hired hand and my thoughts and feelings are not represented by the vessels owners. Although I think the owner did swear something terrible when he saw his gaff rip into his shrouds after the jaws splintered wood onto his deck...

IF you choose to re visit my site in the future then I think that you will find most offensive words omitted.

Please remember though I am a sailor. I bare the scars of hard graft on boats and the mental anguish of losing friends to the deep.
I do not use offensive words to punctuate my sentences as though they were commas and ampersands. I NEVER use offensive words to offend. If I swore it's for reasons such as being less than an hour away from being dashed on the rocks, or capsizing 170 miles from land, grounding needlessly or other such things.
'Oh bother' just didn't seem the right thing to say.
