Hi

Anyone know of a 12V TV out there that has the DVD load from the front and not the side (most i have seen)?

I have a cabinet to fit one into but to have to pull it out each time to put a DVD into it would be a P.i.t.a....

Or alternatively separate 12V DVD player maybe easier i guess?

Sorry not to have information on a 12V TV with a front loading DVD player.

I don't imagine its likely that such a thing exists in a new TV. Old CRTs had depth and it made sense to build in a DVP player underneath the display. Modern flat displays are very thin and it's a big selling point. I can't see anyone deliberately making one that's deep enough to fit in a front loading DVD player. Side or top loading is the only thing that makes much sense.

I haven't used a DVD on the boat for years now. You can either plug in a USB stick or a tablet to play back video. I connect a HUDL to our TV as there's no boot up time, it uses minimal power and stores a large number of films.

I could get an external DVD player but a USB stick uses a lot less power and more robust, so I think it makes more sense on a boat.

We used to use a play station 2 with a 12v power lead. Kids could both play games and watch dvd on the TV. Kept the kids happy for hours.

Not quite what you asked, sorry!

Would something like this help?

I have a side loading dvd/tv combo on something similar. It allows for the TV angle to be changed to accommodate wherever you may be and folds back flat against the bulkhead when not needed. Do the pivot nuts up tight and it'll hold the TV steady, inside a cabinet especially.

Be very careful with these cheapo TV arms - they may be ok in the house fixed to an immovable wall but on a boat even the slightest movement can let the TV swing about unless the hinges have suitable tensioning / tightening arrangement

Well I have one in my motorhome and it stays in place with no pronlems. As for the TV I don't think any flat screens have a front loading system. We have an Avtex which despite the price is excelleny, ours has freeview, freesat and works even in Portugal who have a different digital system to most of Europe. It also records onto usb and has a dvd player
