12v Inverter draw

Hello,
I think I know this and I should. I have just bought a 12v inverter max 1000w. Now if I run a 100w bulb at 220v it draws 0.45A I think ? However if I use the inverter to power that 100w bulb then its 8.33 A ?
(ignoring the 90% eff) Am I right ? If so its for emergency use only unless the engine is running.

It would be sensible to work on an invertor efficiency of between 90 to 95% but there will always be a minimum draw under no load conditions but this will be quite low.
