The old mechanical fridge thermostat has given up the ghost and it's 30C + here in Empuriabrava. I've bridged it for now so we have a fridge but I will need to replace the thermostat. Any pointers to a new one?

My fridge thinks it's a freezer so at least it gets cold, just never stops.

maplin do a cheap kit (about a fiver I think) works well on my fridge in place of old (dead)thermostat

Pity they don't seem to deliver to Spain but it'll wait until the next trip.

Just last week, fitted the Penguin E250500 thermostat. Now works a treat. The guys at Penguin were very quick too. It was easy to fit, electrically extremely easy but pushing the thermostat tube through the insulation etc. was a bit tricky but got there in the end. My batteries are now really happy that the fridge now switches off every now and again!

You can source one from the suppliers in Barcelona although I am sure a local fridge company will get one for you . they are only a Danfoss standard fridge thermostat and it may well be much cheaper than buying from the UK. http://www.pecomark.com/en/delegations

Thanks but I've already ordered one from Penguin and it's on its way. I don't need it urgently and I can fit it when I'm back out here in October.
