My 1999 built Beneteau 311 is fitted with a "frigoboat" 12v fridge (made in Italy by VECO), It no longer cools although the fan and thermostat seem to be OK.
Has anyone experienced this? Does it need re-pressurising? Any handle on likely repair costs? Any suggestions for experienced fridge engineers accessible to Chichester?

Yep mine did the same. I found some corrosion around the compressor pipes, I assume the gas had leaked. I binned it and replaced with Dometic CRE50 which was a perfect match sizewise.

There is a refrigerator fault finding page on my website. You might find it useful.

I had this. I learned on another forum about the fridge requiring high ampage in order to work. It was said that low ampage would make it appear to work as in the humming and light on. It said to check the connections for corrosion. When i inspected my set up i found that there was tarnish over the fuse connections. I cleaned them up and the fridge started working properly again.

Non saying that's your issue but it was mine.

When I had a similar problem with my boat "frigoboat" fridge all the symptoms and checks pointed to reduced refrigerant. It was 15 years old. The refrigeration engineer told me that I may be wasting my money paying him to fix it. Finding the leak takes time and may not be successful. If he should find the leak, fixing it takes time and may not be possible due to its location. There is no point re-gassing until you have found the leak and reliably fixed it. He told me to go find another one to buy. I bought this one https://www.waecofridges.co.uk/crx50.htmd very happy with it after 2 years usage.
