Anybody using/ can recommend a particular make of inverter to run at 1000 watts continuous -the quasi sine wave type.

Do they have any quirky behaviour that I should know about.

We have a “Mastervolt” rated at 750watt continuous 2500watt peak, (which it WILL produce) It is now over ten years old and when motoring we run it all the time, but only under light loads, DVD TV, PC etc. with occasional use of kettle or oven etc.

Only problem we have, it won’t run the insect ‘zapper’ which I assume to be due to the waveform but the PC seems fine on it.

By my calculations that is going to be drawing at least 83amps. What are you using that will need 1000w continuous?
You will need very big cables.

A bit of confusion here- what I meant was that the inverter will be rated for continuous use but will only be used for boiling kettle (800 watts) heating water (750 watts) etc for short periods.

Oh, and not forgetting SWIMBOs electric blanket (80 watts) in the darker months!!

We have had a Heart Interface Freedom 1000W continuous output inverter for over 10 years now with no problems (Freedom 10). They are now known as Xantex Technology which will pop up with a google if interested.

It is combined inverter/50A charger and does auto switching of neutral to ground, etc when shore power plugged in so simplifies the installation somewhat. Forgotten what its peak output is but much higher than the 1kW and will run, for example, a vacuum cleaner drawing over 100A on the DC ie around 1.2kW. Have used it for powering most things imaginable with no problems - tho' probably most use is for running the toaster so mundane /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

I've got a Mastervolt 2000 Watt combi version on my mb and it's one of the best investments I did: It just works perfect!
Just the idea you don't have to think....
We use it for a 1200W water coocker, a 1000W coffeemaker, flatscreen TV, mobile phone and laptop charging and even a Microwave....

Thanks for the responses it looks like there are a number of different makes but everybody seems happy with what they have.

Have put my order in for a Sterling one ...

Just have to get the kettle ready!
