129 days to Go me Boys

I missed last year because of the weather and would like to go this year.
However i may not have a vessel to make the journey .....

so if anyone needs crew i am willing to cross to the other side for the duration /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

"so if anyone needs crew i am willing to cross to the other side for the duration "

I'd like to be able to offer, but the youngest hasn't decided whether she's coming or not yet, If she doesn't come we'll have a cramped berth available. Given the interest in forward planning of 13 year olds though, I don't know how much warning I could give so I'd hang out for a more definate offer if I was you.

Guapa /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
A chaperone /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
More likely to lead you astray /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif sorry Will /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Don't worry , you'll love it /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Dougie , join the queue buddy /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I was thinking more along the lines of SWMBO, but I'm sure Guapa would keep me on the straight and narrow /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I intend to join in again.

A few things to sort out first.
Having a small op next week.
Having recovered from that I need to:-
Make a new tiller and straighten the rudder frame. (broken and bent in the sideways down the A14 incident)
Replace the lining to one half of the main cabin that I ripped out the other day.
Sort and fit a larger fuel tank (5.5 Galls is not enough to get across and our friends on the other side don't like fuel in cans)

I also need to find out if I can beg the use of a mooring again for this year.
Big thanks to Sailorman for the use of his last year.

All I need to do then is convince the boss to allow me to have the time off and find a crew.

Hope to see you all there.

Don't quite think of Dougie-3-bottles as "cramped berth" material

If we're in your part of the world by then, perhaps we'll give it a go!

Never crossed the channel yet and I'm minded to do it in company (although HWMBO really knows his stuff). Bit of a slog round from Sovereign Harbour, though, if we're still there at the time.

We've just twigged that this is a week before our berthing contract at Sovereign runs out and we were planning to relocate to the East Coast anyway then, so seems wise to journey up to there via Ostend if HWMBO can get the time off work. From where do people leave? And when? And how long do they stay in Ostend? Is the general gathering in Ostend (i.e. make your own way there, thus us leaving from Ramsgate) or from the East Coast beforehand (i.e. we trot up to Shotley or somewhere first?)

Advice, as always, gratefully received!

Mrs C,
would advise to go across channel at Dover to Calais, then up the coast in the inshore channel, very well marked.
Plenty of stops on that route if required.

We all generally make our own way there, some have come from Burnham via Ramsgate, (in fact we went back from Oostende that way last year).
We will normally go on the Thursday, and start back on the Monday, but its totally up to you.
It has the advantage (or disadvantage) of being the Oostende marine festival weekend, so plenty to see.

Ramsgate -> Ostend.

Just follow the ferry (TEF) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It's a well-known fact that Guapa only sails from/to ferry ports. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

You can then follow the ferry to Ipswich on your way home.
Just don't follow Cobelfret, or you'll end up in Purfleet.
