£100 for the TV & £130 for the TV with DVD, 15.6" screen. Not promoted as 12v but they come with a mains adaptor dropping mains to 12v. Run OK from a 12v battery. Draw about 5 amps. Branded 'Technika'.
Be careful, your '12v' onboard can become more like 13.8v, some equipment will handle this but it can cause problems and / or shorten its life expetancy.
Solved that problem a couple of years ago with a 19" Amstrad combi LCD.
But, by now, be aware that in France sooner or later only Digital terrestrial television will be broadcasted (dunno what the situation in UK) and so cheapo tvsets might be not compatible with DTT (unless connected trhough an external decoder.
i bought one of these tvs a couple of weeks ago from tesco does anyone have a link to where i can buy an adaptor for use with boat batterys as i dont want to butcher the one that uses 240 volt
There's one here and I see that maxi77 showed one also.
Anthony is right, be very careful with 12V from boat/caravan/car into an LCD TV. The backlight inverter used to backlight the LCD can easily be damaged by overvoltage and that happens when the alternator or charger is running. There's not much leeway (nautical connection), on new cheap TV sets.
You do need a 12V stabiliser between the boat DC and TV.
It's fairly obvious to an engineer what happened, if it gets that far before you get a replacement TV! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
