I am a bit late to the party however thought that some on the forum might be interested in the project I have been doing for the last 3 years.
It started 3 years ago with a yacht that had been very poorly renovated under the previous ownership. Definitely a lipstick on a pig situational and many hidden issues.
We needed up having to strip the boat back to bare metal and start again. A lot of the engine room mechanical had been replaced and with some alterations could be saved and used.
Could someone help on how I would post photos on here?

can someone guide me on how to post a photo? I replied to another post and had the option to put an attachment but on this post I don’t have that.

You need a mininum number of posts before you can post pictures. Just keep the descriptions coming and suddenly you will be able to post pics. It will make my steel 40ft build look less impressive!

The OP has now successfully uploaded some on the Gelyce thread including a pic or two of Grey Mist. Very impressive. Would love to see some rebuild pics.

How many Camper Nicholson Gelyce survive?

Ok, I thought it might be something like that. Hard to describe the work without the pictures. I am not much of a wordsmith.
We are hoping to reunite the 50’ Gelyce named Mavourneen and Grey Mist at Launch in May.
Fingers crossed both projects come together. The intention is to spend 1-2 years in the Bahamas and Caribbean then look into getting them back to Europe.
Grey Mist spent some time in the Greek island after WWII so that may be one destination to aim for.

Fortunately very little welding was needed on the hull. The main structural work was on the interior stringers and in particular the keelson.
I found that during some tank and bulkhead modifications while under the previous refit the keelson had been cut back but not reattached.
We also found some stringers had perished along with others that once again had been cut to facilitate modifications without being reinstated.

Sea trial on Monday. Fingers crossed on the mechanical side. Still can’t post photos so I can’t really give progress reports.

Obviously the right choice changing the hull colour of Grey Mist into grey…👍
This was my plan, when evaluating to purchase her back in August 2019.
Could you post some photos ?

Our Marine Engine technician has a 100+ year old steel boat that has a preservation order on her, like yourself he is having to sort out a previous owners poor restoration, currently he is bead blasting the engine room to remove the lipstick off the pig.
