People tend to think of the Med as having blues seas and blue skies.

This video shows a yacht skipper relating his experience of 100 + knots off Corsica on August 18.

The normal wind projection sites gave no indication of anything exceptional apart from one which predicted the 100 knots. It was so far away from the other predictions that the skipper thought it an anomaly.

He was on a 41' Contest with wife, daughter and 91yo FIL.

It's in French but I think the drama will be obvious.

PS Some years ago in August we were holed up in Bonifacio when winds of up to 87 knots were experienced.

The Capitainerie of the first port in France where I had an annual berth, one winter recorded on the gyrometer on their roof 193km/h.
That destroyed some of my fenders - HTM4 inflatable types exploded with long splits down the structure of the fender.

Here is a video of a nice sheltered anchorage in a bay which is itself inside a bigger bay. Those 15m waves would spoil your day if you were anchored there.
