what is the difference in fitting 10 or 30 micron fuel filters?
and which is finer the 10 or 30. presumably the larger the number the finer??

Presumably one would therefore use a 30 micron on the prefilter and a 10 micron on the primary filter? Or have I got this arse about face?

Tricky terminology, Pre and primary both indicate the first filtering. Perhaps primary and secondary, or pre filter and final filter would be better.

You need the 30 micron to filter first then run it through the 10 micron to remove what the 30 micron missed.

Apart from the fact that most final filters are 5 micron or 2 micron depending upon the make, not 10. Most CAV filters are in fact rated at 5-7 micron absolute but I have always thought that unnecessary for a pre-filter. Other manufacturers only make 30 and 2.
30 pre-filter (which is usually also a water seperator) and 2 as a final filter before the lift pump.
