Well, you don't get to see the ACTUAL 10 knots but it is there on the log display.

Reckon that I could have got close again but I was helming and filming at the same time and losing concentration. The sea was flattish as it was blowing from the south and you can see how close inshore I was from the GPS.

I suppose that Mrs Bav could have done one or the other but she had alreay hit 9.2k on the way over and it was MY turn .... and she refused to stand on the transom to film!

Tried posting this in the video forum but seem to be banned. (?)

According to Quandary shurely it's time to calibrate your log.

Good grief ... I wish that I had raced against his two Sigma's .... could probably have gone round the course twice!

I'm sorry

Envious as hell! Wish we could get conditions like that in the Ionian. Have seen those sorts of speeds only a few times in my 37 - and the keel was still very firmly attached when I last looked!

What am I doing wrong then ?

My boat is a beneteau First 435 and the most I have got out of her in flat water is a little under 9 kts. Since I regularly pee all over my friends Bav 42 what are you doing to get 10 kts. ?:)

P.S. What's that formula for theoretical maximum hull speed ?

Chris

Cool - getting up to our speed now then! ;)
We only hit 9.5 ... last Thursday, with just the genoa ... oh and 30 knots of wind up the chuff ....

quick question - how clean is your bum? :o

Yes, but attached to what!

;)

To the bottom of the boat of course! If I could suss how to post piccies I could show you the lovely shape - at least of the huge bulb on the bottom. (shallow draft so a bit useless as a foil!). And you could eat your dinner out of the bilges and see your face in the shine on the keel nuts and studs if you fancy. Pity about the brown pigment in the interior mouldings though, rather yukky looking, but you can't have everything.

Just do it the same as the old fashioned way.... upload to your photobucket account.... (Set it to resize to 640x whatever as it goes up...) then when its in the album hold your cursor over the image until a windo opens... rull down to the "IMG code" bit.... left click and a little yellow note saying "Copied " pops up.... come back to the forum... left click were you want to post the picture and paste in that code...

Viola...
